
Lelah is an upright and electric bassist and composer living in Southern California. Growing up in Colorado, she was surrounded by the music of her radio-DJ-parents’ record collection. Drawn to the bass and drums of jazz albums, she began studying the double bass in junior high. She started playing with rockabilly, country, and jazz groups around the Denver area while she was in high school, and graduated from The Denver School of the Arts. She received her BFA from The New School for Jazz & Contemporary Music, where she studied with Buster Williams, Reggie Workman, Mark Helias, George Garzone, and many others. She has recorded albums with Americana, country, indie rock, pop, soul, and jazz artists.
